they are: S-23 EXTENDED SEASON - Remains open to
fishing through October. From October 1 - October 31; artificial lures only; all fish
caught must be released alive at once. S-24 EXTENDED SEASON - Remains open to
fishing through November. From October 1 to November 30; all trout, landlocked salmon,
togue and bass must be released alive at once.
Lakes and ponds in Androscoggin County are open to open
water fishing from April 1 - November 30; all trout, landlocked salmon,
togue and black bass caught from October 1- November 30 must be released

Androscoggin River, (See Fish Consumption Advisory).
From the Maine-New Hampshire Border, Gilead, downriver to tidewater,
Brunswick and Topsham: April 1 - Sept. 30: S-19. Minimum length limit on
salmon, rainbow trout and brown trout: 12 inches. Daily bag limit on
bass: 1 fish between 12 and 15 inches; artificial lures only for bass. S-24.
Androscoggin River, Little, Oxford, Minot, Poland, Auburn, etc. From Rt.
26 bridge in Oxford to confluence with Androscoggin River: From Apr. 1 -
Aug. 15: S-19. From Aug. 16 - Oct. 31: S-6,
S-8.
Nezinscot River, Turner. (1) From Turner Mill dam downstream to its
confluence with Meadow Brook: S-6; all fish caught must be released
alive at once; open to open water fishing for all fish from Jan. 1 -
Dec. 31; (2) From its confluence with Meadow Brook downstream to its
confluence with the Androscoggin River: Open to open water fishing for
all fish from Jan. 1 - Dec. 31: S-19.
Arnold Brook Recreation Watershed Lake, Presque Isle.

Black Ponds, Little (South), T15 R9 WELS. S-5, S-19, S-23. Minimum length
limit on trout: 8 inches, only 1 may exceed 12 inches. Tributaries and outlet: S-19; Minimum length limit on trout: 8 inches, only 1 may exceed 12 inches.
Lakes and ponds in Cumberland County are open to open water fishing from
April 1 - November 30; all trout, landlocked salmon, togue and black bass caught
from October 1- November 30 must be released alive at once. These waters may
have special regulations which have been retained - check individual listings
for special regulations.
Crooked River, Casco, Naples, Harrison, (Cumberland County); Otisfield,
Waterford, Norway, Albany Twp. (Oxford County): S-1. From Rt. 11, Casco, Naples,
to Rt. 35, North Waterford: Apr. 1 to Sept. 30: fly fishing only; all salmon
caught must be released alive at once. From Bolster's Mill road bridge
downstream to Rt. 11 in Casco: Oct. 1 - Oct. 15, fly fishing only; all fish
caught must be released alive at once.
Lily Pond, New Gloucester. S-4, S-13,
S-17, S-23. Motorboats prohibited.
Muddy River, north of Rt. 11/114 bridge to Lake House Rd. S-24.
Stickey River, from Railroad Trestle to Rt. 114, Standish. S-24.
Rangeley River, Rangeley. S-1 That portion of Rangeley Lake and Rangeley
River from two red posts set about 300 feet above the fish screen downstream to
the confluence of the Rangeley and Kennebago River: Open to fishing in
October; fly fishing only; all fish caught must be released alive at
once.
Saddleback Lake, Dallas Plt. S-6, S-18, S-23. Motorboats prohibited
Sandy River, from Rt. 145 bridge, Strong, downstream to its confluence with
the Kennebec River, Starks, Anson: From Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, S-5. All fish caught
must be released alive at once. (General law applies for the rest of the
season).
Echo Lake, Mount Desert, etc. S-16. Fishing restricted to 1 line.
Motorboats over 10 horsepower prohibited. From Oct. 1 - Oct. 15,
artificial lures only; all fish caught must be released alive at
once.
Hadlock Pond, Upper, Mt. Desert. S-6, S-16, S-23. Tributaries
closed to all fishing. Children 12 years of age and under may fish
under the S-4 special regulation.
Lakes and ponds in Kennebec County are open to open water fishing
from April 1 - November 30; all trout, landlocked salmon, togue and
black bass caught from October 1- November 30 must be released alive

Messalonskee Stream, Oakland, Waterville. S-24.
Sebasticook River, from Great Moose Pond Dam, Hartland, to the
Fort Halifax Dam, Winslow: From Aug. 16 to Oct. 31: Artificial lures
only, total daily limit on salmon, trout and togue: 1 fish.
EXCEPTION: From Fort Halifax Dam in Winslow to its confluence with
the Kennebec River: Open to open water fishing from Jan. 1 - Dec. 31
- Artificial lures only; daily limit on salmon, rainbow and brown
trout: 1 fish; minimum length limit on salmon, rainbow and brown
trout: 16 inches.
Lakes and ponds in Knox County are open to open water fishing
from April 1 - November 30; all trout, landlocked salmon, togue and
black bass caught from October 1- November 30 must be released alive

St. George River, From St. George Lake, Liberty, downriver to
head of tide in Warren: Open to open water fishing from Jan. 1 -
Dec. 31: S-11, S-21. EXCEPTION: From the red markers downstream of
the Ghent Road Bridge in Searsmont to the upstream side of the Rt.
105 bridge in Appleton: S-6, all fish caught must be released alive
at once.
Lakes and ponds in Lincoln County are open to open water fishing
from April 1 - November 30; all trout, landlocked salmon, togue and
black bass caught from October 1- November 30 must be released alive
at once. These waters may have special regulations which have been

Medomak River, Waldoboro. That portion from the bridge at
Winslows Mills to tidewater: Length limit on brown trout: 12 inches.
From Aug. 16 to Oct. 31: S-6, S-8.
Clemons Pond, Big, Hiram. S-13, S-24. Pond and tributaries open
to the taking of smelts with the exception of Little Clemons Pond
outlet and the area within 100 feet of the mouth of this tributary.
Clay Pond and outlet to barrier dam, Fryeburg. S-6,

Upper Dam Pool, T4R1. S-1. That area between Mooselookmeguntic
Lake dam and a line drawn between the two cribwork piers
approximately 800 yards west of said dam: S-1, S-5; Minimum length
limit on trout: 12 inches; Minimum length limit on salmon: 18
inches. Total daily bag limit on salmon, trout and togue: 1 fish. No
motorboats allowed from gates of dam, downstream or westerly 150
yards. Open to fishing October 1 - October 31- fly fishing only; all
fish caught must be released alive at once.
Branns Mill Pond, Garland and Dover-Foxcroft. S-24. All bass
longer than 18 inches must be released alive at once. (Also

are subject to rapidly changing water level without warning. This has resulted
in loss of life in the area below Indian Pond. We urge fishing from the
riverbank only in these areas.
(A) From Indian Pond dam in T1R6, Somerset County to the Central Maine Power
Dam in Skowhegan (EXCLUDING WYMAN LAKE which is open under General Law): From
Apr. 1 - Oct. 31; Minimum length limit on salmon, rainbow trout, lake trout and
brown trout: 12 inches; brook trout: 10 inches; daily bag limit on salmon,
trout and togue: 2 fish in the aggregate. From Aug. 16 - Oct. 31, fishing is
restricted to the use of artificial lures only.
(B) From the Central Maine Power Co. Dam in Skowhegan to tidewater (Edwards
Mill Dam) in Augusta: Open to open water fishing from Jan 1 - Dec. 31. Minimum
length limit on salmon, trout and togue: 12 inches; daily bag limit on salmon,
trout and togue: 2 fish in the aggregate. EXCEPTION: From the Shawmut Dam to
the upstream side of the new "Donald Carter" bridge in
Waterville/Winslow: Artificial lures only; minimum length limit on salmon,
rainbow trout and brown trout: 16 inches. Total daily bag limit for salmon,
trout and togue: 1 fish. Kennebec River tributaries in Concord, Bingham and
Moscow. Open to fishing from June 1 except the following sections which are
open under General Law seasons: (1) That portion of Mink Brook north of Pierce
Hill Road in Moscow; (2) That portion of Austin Stream in Moscow north of the
falls as marked by red markers; (3) That portion of Jackson Brook in Bingham
north of Goodrich Road bridge; 4) That portion of Gulf Stream upstream of
Deadwater Rd. in Moscow. Kennebec River, East Outlet, from Moosehead Lake to
Indian Pond, River and tributaries: S-1. Open to fishing from May 1 to Sept.
30: Fly fishing only; Minimum length limit on trout: 12 inches; minimum length

Kennebec River, West Outlet. Opens to fishing May 1. S-19, S-23.
Kingsbury Pond, Kingsbury Plt., Mayfield Plt. S-3,
S-8, S-22, S-23; Minimum
length limit on trout: 16 inches. Pond closed to the taking of smelts from
midnight to noon each day.

Parlin Pond and tributaries upstream to Route 201 and outlet (Parlin
Stream), down to the confluence with Bean Brook, Johnson Mt. Twp. and Parlin
Pond Twp. Casting and trolling with artificial flies only. Minimum length limit

from April 1 - November 30; all trout, landlocked salmon, togue and

Ducktrap River, from Tilden Pond to tidewater, Lincolnville,
etc. Fly fishing only; Daily limit on brook trout: 2 fish; Minimum
length on brook trout: 10 inches. River open until Oct. 15 from the
confluence of Black Brook to tidewater. No bag limit on pickerel.

Mousam River, Kennebunk. From the dam at Mousam Lake downstream
to Rt. 1: S-23. From Rt. 1 to tidewater: April 1 - Nov. 30: S-6,
S-8, S-21
Ogunquit River, Wells. From the northbound lane bridge of the
Maine Turnpike to the upstream side of the Rt. 1 bridge: From Apr. 1
to Aug. 15: S-6, S-19, S-21; from Aug. 16 to Oct. 31:
S-6, S-21;
Total daily bag limit on salmon, trout and togue: 1 fish
Ossipee River, Little, Newfield and
Shapleigh. From the stone dam immediately above Rt.
11 in North Shapleigh downstream to Bridge Street in
Newfield, including Davis Brook from the Mann Road
downstream to the confluence with the Little Ossipee
River: From Apr. 1 - Oct. 31: Artificial lures only;
all trout caught must be released alive at once.
Saco River, Dayton, Buxton, Hiram,
Limington, etc. S-19. From Skelton Dam to tidewater:
Oct. 1 - Oct. 15: S-6, S-8. DANGER: The area south
of the Upper York Dam (West Channel), in Saco and
Biddeford, is subject to sudden fluctuations in
water level due to automated operation of dam gates.
Fishermen are advised to use caution because of the
danger of rapidly rising water levels. Bank fishing
only is recommended.
Scituate Pond, York. Motorboats with
internal combustion engines prohibited. S-24.
Spicer Pond, Shapleigh. S-6. Opens May 1. Motorboats prohibited.
Children 12 years of age and under may fish under the S-4
special
regulation. S-23.
S-14 No bag limit on pickerel. From July 1 -
September 30, artificial lures only; minimum length limit on trout: 8 inches.
S-15 From April 1 to June 20, daily bag limit
on bass: 2 fish; all bass longer than 12 inches must be released; from June 21 to Sept.
30, daily bag limit on bass: 2 fish between 10 and 12 inches except that 1 may exceed 16
inches.
S-16 Daily bag limit on brook trout (includes
splake): 2 fish; minimum length limit: 12 inches, only 1 may exceed 14 inches.
S-17 Daily bag limit on brook trout (includes
splake): 2 fish, minimum length limit: 10 inches, only one may exceed 12 inches.
S-18 Daily bag limit on brook trout (includes
splake): 2 fish, minimum length limit: 8 inches.
S-23 EXTENDED SEASON - Remains open to
fishing through October. From October 1 - October 31; artificial lures only; all fish
caught must be released alive at once.
S-24 EXTENDED SEASON - Remains open to
fishing through November. From October 1 to November 30; all trout, landlocked salmon,
togue and bass must be released alive at once.
S-25 Smelts may be taken by use of 3
single-baited hooks spaced a minimum of four inches apart.
